Cinematographer
Catherine Derry is a versatile and widely respected London-based cinematographer whose work includes features, multi-episode tv, commercials, music promos and documentaries. A member of UK female cinematographer collective Illuminatrix with over 25 years of experience in film and digital under her belt, Catherine has a reputation in the UK industry as inventive and adaptable collaborator with a powerful colour aesthetic, a cool-headed working style and a commitment to bringing on new female talent in film.
After starting her film career in motion control, Catherine worked her way up through the camera department, becoming a highly regarded focus puller before establishing herself as a director of photography in the late-00s. Her first feature film was the BAFTA award winning Junkhearts (2011), with subsequent work including feature-length musical Been So Long (2018) and multi-episode TV series for Amazon, HBO (Industry, 2020) and a number of high-end commercials for UK consumer brands and international charity Save the Children.
2021 has so far seen Catherine shooting two full-length feature films for Netflix (Curs<r, a horror due for release 2022) and Sky Cinema (A Christmas No 1, due for release Dec 21).
