A 2012 AFTRS graduate, Ella is a Melbourne based Director with a background in Production Design.  

Ella has designed a number of television series, films and commercials over the past decade, including Soulmates (ABC,) Wham Bam Thank you Maam (ABC,) Growing up  Gracefully (ABC,) What if it Works (Netflix,) StreetSmart (Network 10) and Hardball (ABC.) In 2014, Ella won an APDG Award for her work on the Emmy award winning TV  series, 7 Days Later (ABC) and has since been a judge at the APDG awards across the short form category for the past 5 years. In 2017 Ella was one of nine women profiled in  the Women in Screen series for ABC and Screen Australia Your Time campaign.  

Moving into writing and directing, Ella’s short films have collectively screened at over 50 international film festivals and has worked with commercial clients including Mazda,  NLV records and Instagram USA. In 2021 Ella wrote and directed the short film Prawn which screened at a number of festivals including St Kilda Film Fest, BIFF (Brisbane) and  Human Rights and Art Film Festival, as well as was awarded an honourable mention at Hollywood New Directors and was recently featured and released on Director’s Notes.  Ella’s animated work has screened at notable fesitvals including Flickerfest and Animafest Zagreb. In 2019, one of her animated shorts Thanks A lot Duchamp was selected  for The Magic Arts: Australian Animation from 1970s to Now and screened at The Queensland Gallery of Modern Art alongside work by Adam Elliott.  

In 2024 Ella and her creative partner Caitlin Spiller were one of 24 writers selected internationally, to pitch their original TV Show in LA at the Hollywood Climate Summit,  hosted at NBCUniversal. With the support of Screen Australia, the duo pitched their series in the US and have since moved into development with the project.
