Executive Creative Director, TBWA\MCR
I have over 25 years in the creative industry, the last 14 years here with the team at TBWA.
Ever since the Smash Martians graced the telly I was smitten. Not just with the tasty deliciousness that is reconstituted potato, but with the idea of ideas selling stuff. Granted I was only 4 or 5 at the time, but those laughing robots became a long-term memory for me.
50 years (ahem) later, and I’m an ECD who’s gone from junior writer to Head of Copy to CD to ECD whilst creating work for Gordon’s Gin, Coors and Dewars, Fisherman’s Friend, British Airways and Crown Paints.
As ECD, I oversee all the Creative Teams, Content Creators and Designers. I work on David Lloyd Clubs (I’m a gym rat and runner - so of course), LEGOLAND and Alton Towers, Heide Park, Gardaland, Pizza Hut, Papyrus, Goodfellas and Marriott Bonvoy. Along with pushing the agency to produce the best, simple, memorable (Smash Martians – life goal) and creative work for our clients, I love nothing more than helping the team grow ideas from scribbles on a ‘pad’ to real life campaigns, that make a difference to the people we work with and the most importantly, the people watching, reading, scrolling or swiping.
I have been lucky enough to receive recognition from D&AD, Cannes, Epica and London International Awards. These awards are a testament to the hard work, passion, and dedication I always aim to bring to every project. To this day, I have yet to write or find a brand strapline that beats telling your audience to ‘get smash(ed)’ but that shouldn’t stop you trying. Side fact: I have an identical twin.
