Romain Cailliez is a French director of photography and filmmaker based in Bali, Indonesia. Since relocating to the island in 2014, he has developed extensive experience creating commercial, branded, and documentary content across Southeast Asia.
Working as a cinematographer and director, he has contributed to international projects for brands and platforms including Coca-Cola, Netflix, Levi’s, Kenzo, Decathlon, DJI, Canal+, WhatsApp, Michael Kors, Nestlé, and L’Oréal, crafting visual narratives for advertising campaigns, branded films, and documentary storytelling.
His work has received international recognition, including a Cannes Lions award for Coca-Cola, as well as festival recognition for his documentary Voice Above Water and a Vimeo Staff Pick.
Alongside cinematography, Cailliez is closely involved in post-production and supports projects from concept through final delivery. He is known for his hands-on approach and for working closely with crews at every stage to ensure strong visuals, smooth execution, and cohesive storytelling.
