Alex Taylor is a writer and creative director with over 15 years of experience making advertising, web comedy and branded content. He is currently an Executive Creative Director at TBWA\Chiat\Day New York, running Mountain Dew, Bubly and Lay's while working across a range of accounts.
Previously, as a Group Creative Director at Dentsu Mcgarrybowen, he led breakthrough and effective work for Subway, Audible and Manhattan Mini Storage.
Prior to mcgarry, he was a freelance Creative Director, working on pitches and launching brand campaigns at agencies like Droga5, Weiden + Kennedy, Goodby Silverstein & Partners, TBWA\Chiat\Day NY, Johannes Leonardo, Crispin, Porter + Bogusky, Grey NY and Saatchi & Saatchi London.
Before freelance, he was a VP / Creative Director at BBDO New York where he helped create the Foot Locker “Approved” campaign, and led well-known and award-winning work for brands like Snickers, AT&T, FedEx, Mountain Dew and Champs Sports.
He also co-created and directed the web series Hikea in which real people on hallucinogenic substances attempt to build Ikea furniture. He co-created and wrote the web cartoon The Exploding People which was a weekly fixture on Funny or Die. And he wrote the short film Killing the Coat (dir. Aaron Stoller) which was a Vimeo Staff Pick and premiered at the Brooklyn Short Film Festival.
He consistently creates work that breaks into popular culture, having been featured on The Today Show, CNN, ABC News, New York Magazine’s Approval Matrix, ESPN, Bleacher Report, TBS Funniest Commercials of the Year (#1) and in the print edition of The New York Times. And he’s been repeatedly acknowledged by the industry with Cannes Lions, One Show Pencils, ADC Cubes, Clios and many other international advertising awards.
