Director of Programming, Mailchimp
Sarita is the Director of Programming for Mailchimp. She built and launched Mailchimp's media division, Mailchimp Studios, which includes a thriving podcast network, a periodic film series, and a content slate that features early-career artists alongside well-known voices like Ilhan Omar, Fran Lebowitz, and Big Boi.
Prior to that she spent a decade in academia studying how media can be deployed to elevate marginalized voices and bring about social change. Her academic research traces the suppression of Black journalists during the rise of mass incarceration and investigates the links between storytelling and behavioral change.
Sarita was a founding member of UPenn's Center for Social Impact Strategy, an instructor of History and African American Studies at Emory University, and started a project-based high school in Atlanta that teaches kids how to be entrepreneurs. She's a member of the National Association of Latino Independent Producers, a SXSW Mentor, an award-winning photographer, and was named as one of Adweek's Creative 100.
