Mickaël Bandela is a Paris-based, award-winning documentary filmmaker and creative editor, crafting edits with narrative precision and emotional impact, shaped by his love of music and sound.
For nearly 20 years, Bandela has built extensive experience as a creative editor in advertising, collaborating with leading agencies such as Publicis Conseil, Marcel, TBWA, and BETC. He has edited award-winning campaigns for global brands including Renault, Nestlé, Orange (notably the acclaimed Women’s Football spot), and many others.
A graduate of the prestigious French national film school, La Fémis in Paris, with a diploma in Creative Documentary Filmmaking, Bandela developed his authorial voice and cinematic vision. His debut feature documentary Une mère / One Mother (2022) was widely acclaimed worldwide, earning many awards including the prestigious FIPRESCI Prize at Dok Leipzig. His work emerges from the collision of the intimate and the political, seeking the encounter between the raw beauty of reality and the dramatic force of fiction.
He is now preparing his first fiction feature.
