Lizzy Bailey is a Naarm-based, Aotearoa-born director and writer. Originally studying documentary at the Victorian College of the Arts, Bailey broadened her interest to narrative with a particular focus on casting and performance.
After spending several years working as a director’s assistant for directors such as Garth Davies, Mark Molloy, Glendyn Ivin, Tony Rogers and Clayton Jacobson, she moved into directing commercials herself.
She has worked with clients such as Google, Netflix, Citibank, Panadol, Victorian Government, Latitude Finance, Breast Cancer Foundation, NAB, Kellogg’s and Bonds. Her recent work for Google Nest was heralded by Mumbrella as Campaign of the Year, while her campaign for Guardian Funerals was listed as Ad of the Week on LBB Online and was nominated for Campaign Brief’s The Work 2022.
Her latest shorts, Yes? and Lil’, played in festivals around Australia, picking up awards for Best Female Director at Freshflix and shortlisted for Best Comedy at Setting Sun Festival. She has several other upcoming projects in development.
