Bruce Macdonald, award-winning director, producer, and storyteller, serves as an Executive and Director at Boomtown Productions Dubai. and is the co-owner of Boomtown Films Cape Town.
With decades of international filmmaking expertise, Bruce has produced and directed feature films including Samson (2018), released in over 3,000 U.S. theatres, The Perfect Wave (2014), and Van Der Merwe (2017), collaborating with icons such as Morgan Freeman, Scott Eastwood, Rutger Hauer, and Billy Zane.
His acclaimed documentary work includes Ocean Driven (2016), Last Known Coordinates (2021), and a Cannes-premiered documentary-feature on The Parlotones (2018) Emirates Development Bank (2025) Guardians of Energy (2025).
Bruce’s commitment to social impact earned him a Humanitarian Award nomination & numerous awards including winner Cannes World Film Festival for his 2020 human rights campaign Can You See Me, which sparked global dialogue and advocacy against child exploitation.
In 2025, Bruce is finalising the Atlantis, The Palm, brand film and directing a high-energy action campaign for EDGE, cementing his reputation as one of the region’s most dynamic creative leaders.
