Director, Reform School
As a director Nare's film work pulses with razor-sharp comic timing rooted in grounded performances and lush cinematic worlds. He is represented in the US by Reform School, Massif in South Africa, Hunky Dory in the UK, and Dissidence in France.
He is one half of the artist collaborative MADEYOULOOK, who explore everyday popular imaginaries and their modalities for knowledge production. MADEYOULOOK were the sole featured artists on the South African Pavilion at the 60th edition of La Biennale di Venezia, were DAAD Artists-in-Berlin fellows for visual arts 2022 and Lumbung artists at documenta fifteen. They were nominees for the VLC Prize for Art and Politics 2016/17 at the New School, New York.
